<h3>Accounting &amp; Finance Lead (Act 60 — Manufacturing)</h3><p><strong>Location:</strong> Fully Remote<br> <strong>Type:</strong> Full-time </p><h3>About the Role</h3><p>Our client is are a small, growing business in Puerto Rico preparing to operate under an <strong>Act 60 manufacturing tax decree</strong>. We’re seeking an Accounting &amp; Finance professional who has <strong>hands-on experience supporting a company that has successfully leveraged Act 60 (formerly Acts 20/22/73) incentives</strong>—ideally in a manufacturing environment. You will build and run our day‑to‑day finance operations while owning all compliance and reporting needed to maintain our tax decree benefits.</p><h3>What You’ll Do</h3><p><strong>Act 60 Strategy, Compliance &amp; Reporting</strong></p><ul> <li> Set up and maintain accounting and record‑keeping frameworks that align with our <strong>Act 60 manufacturing decree</strong> requirements. </li> <li> Prepare and file <strong>annual compliance deliverables</strong> and supporting documentation; coordinate with <strong>DDEC</strong>, <strong>Hacienda/SURI</strong>, <strong>Municipal Patente</strong> authorities, and <strong>CRIM</strong> as needed. </li> <li> Track and document eligible activities, jobs, investments, and expenditures to <strong>support audits and incentive renewals</strong>. </li> <li> Serve as the internal point of contact with outside tax advisors, legal counsel, and auditors. </li> </ul><p><strong>Core Accounting &amp; Close</strong></p><ul> <li> Own the <strong>monthly close</strong> (GL, accruals, reconciliations, journal entries) and deliver timely financial statements (P&amp;L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow). </li> <li> Manage <strong>AP/AR</strong>, vendor onboarding, payment runs, and collections. </li> <li> Implement and oversee <strong>inventory, COGS, and manufacturing cost accounting</strong> (standard costing, variances, BOMs, work‑in‑process, inventory valuation). </li> <li> Build and enforce accounting policies and internal controls consistent with <strong>US GAAP</strong>. </li> </ul><p><strong>Tax, Payroll &amp; Filings</strong></p><ul> <li> Coordinate <strong>Puerto Rico tax</strong> filings and payments (corporate income tax, informative returns/480 series where applicable, sales &amp; use tax/IVU, municipal license tax, property tax), working with external advisors where needed. </li> <li> Oversee <strong>payroll</strong> processing and ensure compliance with PR requirements relevant to our decree (e.g., headcount thresholds, eligible positions). </li> </ul><p><strong>Planning, Analysis &amp; Cash</strong></p><ul> <li> Create <strong>budgets/forecasts</strong>, track performance, and provide <strong>variance analysis</strong> with actionable insights. </li> <li> Build a <strong>13‑week cash forecast</strong>; monitor runway, credit lines, and covenant compliance. </li> <li> Model the <strong>financial impact of Act 60 incentives</strong> and identify opportunities to maximize benefits within the program’s rules. </li> </ul><p><strong>Systems &amp; Scale</strong></p><ul> <li> Evaluate, implement, and optimize our <strong>accounting system</strong> (e.g., QuickBooks Online/Xero or light ERP) and ensure clean integrations with banking, payroll, and manufacturing systems. </li> <li> Establish scalable workflows, checklists, and dashboards to support growth and audits. </li> </ul><h3>What You’ll Bring</h3><p><strong>Required</strong></p><ul> <li> <strong>5+ years</strong> progressive accounting/finance experience, including <strong>manufacturing</strong> or product‑based businesses. </li> <li> <strong>Direct experience</strong> supporting a company under <strong>Act 60</strong> (or prior PR incentive regimes) with demonstrated involvement in <strong>compliance, reporting, and agency coordination</strong>. </li> <li> Strong command of <strong>US GAAP</strong>, monthly close, reconciliations, and internal controls. </li> <li> Working knowledge of <strong>Puerto Rico tax and compliance infrastructure</strong> (DDEC, Hacienda/<strong>SURI</strong>, Municipal <strong>Patente</strong>, <strong>CRIM</strong>). </li> <li> Hands‑on with <strong>inventory/cost accounting</strong> in a manufacturing context. </li> <li> Advanced <strong>Excel/Google Sheets</strong>; comfortable with accounting systems (QBO/Xero/ERP). </li> <li> <strong>Bilingual (Spanish/English)</strong>—professional proficiency required. </li> <li> High ownership, discretion, and the ability to operate in a lean, entrepreneurial environment. </li> </ul><p><strong>Nice to Have</strong></p><ul> <li> <strong>CPA</strong> (PR or US) or equivalent professional certification. </li> <li> Experience implementing or optimizing <strong>ERP/MRP</strong> for manufacturing (e.g., NetSuite, Odoo, SAP Business One, Microsoft Business Central). </li> <li> Prior involvement in <strong>incentive audits</strong> and annual Act 60 reporting packages. </li> <li> Experience with <strong>costing methodologies</strong> (standard costing, ABC), and manufacturing KPIs. </li> <li> Familiarity with <strong>grant/incentive tracking</strong> and documentation best practices. </li> </ul><h3></h3>
