About the position
The Coding Specialist plays a crucial role within the Trip Intake Team at Global Medical Response, ensuring that appropriate billing steps are followed for ground ambulance services. This position involves accurately coding medical services and ensuring timely processing of accounts to facilitate efficient billing operations.
Responsibilities
• Determines appropriate medical necessity and level of service provided
,
• Accurately assigns ICD-10(s) for transports
,
• Accurately bills ancillary charges as performed
,
• Ensure all accounts are worked appropriately to allow distribution to the floor in a timely manner
,
• Other duties as assigned
Requirements
• 6 months certified coder experience in EMS/ambulance setting
,
• Basic skills with Microsoft Excel
,
• Experience researching and identifying ICD-10 codes manually and on-line
,
• High school diploma or equivalent
,
• Current Medical Billing and Coding or Ambulance Coding certificate
,
• Medical terminology course
Nice-to-haves
• Ground ambulance experience

• Current EMT license
