Entity: Owensboro Health Regional Hospital | Department: Cancer Registry | Work Hours: 7AM-3:30PM | Weekend Requirements: N/A | 0.0 FTE<p></p><p></p><p><b>Job Summary:</b></p><p>Responsible for collecting, abstracting, and reporting cancer incidence data in accordance with Kentucky Cancer Registry, ACoS/CoC, and National Cancer Database (NCDB) requirements.</p><p></p><p><b>Job Responsibilities:</b></p><ul><li><p>Identifies and analyzes the history, diagnosis, treatment, disease status, and survival data of cancer patients and patients with other reportable disease processes as directed by Kentucky Cancer Registry and ACoS/CoC.</p></li><li><p>Prepares statistical reports on mortality rates, treatment effects, incidence rates of various diagnostic categories, and demographic variables.</p></li><li><p>Complies with all reporting requests and requirements.</p></li><li><p>Assists in meeting the American of College of Surgeons' criteria for reports, statistics, quality assurance audits, oncology conferences and Cancer Committee meetings.</p></li><li><p>Coordinates with physicians all aspects of the weekly tumor and oncology conferences as assigned.</p></li><li><p>Provides cancer data upon request by physicians, Cancer Committee, ancillary department, and other registries for the purpose of research, treatment, marketing, and follow up.</p></li><li><p>Serves as a required member of the Cancer Committee and Breast Program Leadership Committee.</p></li></ul><p></p><p><b>Skills and Attributes:</b></p><ul><li><p>Requires critical thinking skills and decisive judgment.</p></li><li><p>Works under general supervision.</p></li><li><p>Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.</p></li></ul><p></p><p><b>Position Requirements:</b></p><p><b>Work Experience</b></p><ul><li><p>No experience required</p></li></ul><p><b>Education</b></p><ul><li><p>Associate's degree or higher in related field required upon hire AND</p></li><li><p>Successful completion of two semesters (six total credit hours) Human Anatomy & Human Physiology with a grade of "C" or <span style="overflow-wrap: break-word; display: inline; text-decoration: inherit; hyphens: auto;">better </span> required upon hire OR</p></li><li><p>Successful completion of NCRA accredited certificate program required upon <span style="overflow-wrap: break-word; display: inline; text-decoration: inherit; hyphens: auto;">hire </span></p></li></ul><p><b>Additional Education Information</b></p><ul><li><p>A combination of education, training and experience may be considered in lieu of degree.</p></li></ul><p><b><span style="overflow-wrap: break-word; display: inline; text-decoration: inherit; hyphens: auto;">Licensure/Certification/Registration</span></b></p><ul><li><p>ODS - Oncology Data Specialist from National Cancer Registrars Association (NCRA) required within 48 months of employment in this position </p></li></ul><p></p><p><b>Organizational Responsibilities: </b></p><ul><li><p>Supports Owensboro Health’s Mission, Vision, Core Commitments, and business interests.
