Entity: Owensboro Health Regional Hospital | Department: Cancer Registry | Work Hours: 7AM-3:30PM | Weekend Requirements: N/A | 0.0 FTEJob Summary:Responsible for collecting, abstracting, and reporting cancer incidence data in accordance with Kentucky Cancer Registry, ACoS/CoC, and National Cancer Database (NCDB) requirements.Job Responsibilities:<ul><li>Identifies and analyzes the history, diagnosis, treatment, disease status, and survival data of cancer patients and patients with other reportable disease processes as directed by Kentucky Cancer Registry and ACoS/CoC.</li><li>Prepares statistical reports on mortality rates, treatment effects, incidence rates of various diagnostic categories, and demographic variables.</li><li>Complies with all reporting requests and requirements.</li><li>Assists in meeting the American of College of Surgeons' criteria for reports, statistics, quality assurance audits, oncology conferences and Cancer Committee meetings.</li><li>Coordinates with physicians all aspects of the weekly tumor and oncology conferences as assigned.</li><li>Provides cancer data upon request by physicians, Cancer Committee, ancillary department, and other registries for the purpose of research, treatment, marketing, and follow up.</li><li>Serves as a required member of the Cancer Committee and Breast Program Leadership Committee.</li></ul>Skills and Attributes:<ul><li>Requires critical thinking skills and decisive judgment.</li><li>Works under general supervision.</li><li>Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.</li></ul>Position Requirements:Work Experience<ul><li>No experience required</li></ul>Education<ul><li>Associate's degree or higher in related field required upon hire AND</li><li>Successful completion of two semesters (six total credit hours) Human Anatomy & Human Physiology with a grade of "C" or better    required upon hire OR</li><li>Successful completion of NCRA accredited certificate program required upon hire             </li></ul>Additional Education Information<ul><li>A combination of education, training and experience may be considered in lieu of degree.</li></ul>Licensure/Certification/Registration<ul><li>ODS - Oncology Data Specialist from National Cancer Registrars Association (NCRA) required within 48 months of employment in this position  </li></ul>Organizational Responsibilities: <ul><li>Supports Owensboro Health’s Mission, Vision, Core Commitments, and business interests.  Adheres to all organizational policies and procedures.
