<h3><strong>About the Role</strong></h3>
<p>We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented <strong>Advanced Word Formatting Technician</strong> to support our legal teams across the firm. Based initially at our Preston head office for training, this role offers the flexibility of hybrid working once fully onboarded.</p>
<p>This position is perfect for someone with advanced Microsoft Word skills, a passion for precision, and the ability to create, format, and manage complex legal documents in a fast-paced environment.</p>
<h3><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></h3>
<ul>
<li>
<p>Accurately create and amend legal documents from handwritten mark-ups</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Transcribe correspondence and legal content using digital dictation</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Format complex tables, flowcharts, and presentations to a high professional standard</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Proofread documents to ensure accuracy, consistency, and proper layout</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Use advanced Microsoft Word features such as:</p>
<ul>
<li>
<p>Track Changes</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Auto-numbering</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Cross-referencing</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Table of Contents</p>
</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>
<p>Compare documents using tools like CompareDocs</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Reformat and clean up documents to meet house style standards</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Troubleshoot and resolve document formatting issues</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Convert files between formats (e.g., PDF to Word)</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Transcribe video meetings and upload to BigHand for processing</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Compile court and tribunal e-bundles with full pagination, bookmarks, and hyperlinks</p>
</li>
</ul>
<h3><strong>Skills & Experience Required</strong></h3>
<ul>
<li>
<p><strong>Advanced Microsoft Word and Office skills are essential</strong></p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Minimum typing speed of 70 words per minute, with high accuracy</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Intermediate knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Previous experience in a legal document production or formatting role is desirable (training will be provided)</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Meticulous attention to detail with a methodical approach to formatting</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Ability to manage deadlines and prioritise workload under pressure</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Positive, proactive attitude and strong problem-solving skills</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Familiarity with BigHand, iManage, and/or Proclaim is advantageous</p>
