About the position
Castle Biosciences Inc. is seeking a Medical Writer and Vector Graphics Specialist to join our team in Friendswood, TX. This position is integral to our research and development efforts, particularly in the field of dermatological cancers. The successful candidate will engage in daily interactions with the R&D Director and the medical writing team to ensure timely progress on conference deliverables. The role requires a significant amount of time spent at the computer, focusing on the preparation of vector graphics, scientific visualizations, and posters for conferences and publications. Additionally, the Medical Writer will assist in refining data visuals for marketing and other departmental uses. The responsibilities of the Medical Writer include preparing conference abstracts, which involves writing, soliciting feedback from both internal and external sources, and managing deadlines for multiple concurrent projects. The Medical Writer will also oversee the final submission of conference materials related to dermatological disease test products, collaborating closely with R&D team members and external clinician partners. This position is designed for someone who is detail-oriented, possesses strong writing skills, and is capable of managing multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM, with occasional off-hour work required to meet deadlines. Initially, the position will require four days per week in the office for the first 3-6 months, transitioning to two days per week in the office thereafter, with the option for up to three days of remote work. Responsibilities
• Engage in daily touch-bases with the R&D Director and medical writing staff to ensure progress on conference deliverables.

• Prepare vector graphics, scientific visualizations, and posters for conferences and publications.

• Assist in refining and polishing data visuals for marketing purposes or for use by other departments.

• Prepare conference abstracts, including writing, soliciting feedback, and tracking deadlines for multiple projects.

• Oversee the final submission of conference materials related to dermatological disease test products, collaborating with R&D team members and external clinicians.
Requirements
• A degree in the life sciences (BS with 3 years of graduate training or equivalent work experience, or an MS or PhD).

• Excellent vector graphic visualization skills, including proficiency with Illustrator or Inkscape for formatting and layout design.

• Proven writing skills in developing scientific deliverables.
,
• Demonstrable experience independently writing scientific abstracts and creating posters and short oral presentations.
,
• Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and timelines in a fast-paced environment.
,
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and oral communication skills.

• Strong computer literacy, including experience with Inkscape, Adobe Illustrator, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, collaborative writing in SharePoint, and citation managers.
