A Day in the Life
The publications team, a part of the SH&A Medical Science Team, is responsible for global evidence dissemination from Medtronic-sponsored clinical trials and registry data. The team supports the development of manuscripts, abstracts, and podium presentations. Medical science writers in this role work closely with Principal Investigators and internal team members from the clinical study team, statistics, physician relations, and clinical leadership. The ideal candidate for this position is experienced in writing and editing manuscripts at a medical device company (preferred) or other industry, with knowledge in structural heart disease, cardiology, and medical devices. Additionally, relevant medical writing certification (AMWA, CMPP, etc) and familiarity with pertinent writing guidelines (ICMJE, AMA, GPP, etc) is strongly desired. A particular emphasis on R&D projects will be needed for this role, and individuals with an engineering background are encouraged to apply.

The Principal Medical Science Writer is responsible for the preparation of documents that support the presentation and publication needs of assigned therapeutic areas and/or products in the Structural Heart & Aortic Operating Unit.
Role and Responsibilities:

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
• Writes, edits, and formats manuscripts and abstracts in collaboration with lead authors
• Prepares congress presentations (oral or poster) for accepted abstracts
• Compiles, analyzes, and summarizes data for each writing project
• Conducts literature searches as needed for new publications
• Develops an in-depth knowledge of key therapy and product areas, stays abreast of current literature
• Collaborates with physicians, engineers, clinical and statistics teams to plan and identify appropriate analysis and publication plans
• Publication Lead for the Technical Evidence Program
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Participates and presents project data findings in Publication Committee meetings, with Structural Heart leadership, KOLs/Physicians, and Core Team members
• Attend Congress meetings (e.g., TCT, CRT, NY Valves, etc.) where presentations are completed by KOLs in order to monitor messages, audit, conduct presenter prep., and/or participate in publication writing meetings
Must Have: Minimum Requirements

• Bachelors degree required
• Minimum of 7 years of clinical/ medical/ scientific writing experience,
• Or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years clinical/ medical/ scientific writing experience
Nice to Have
• PhD, MD, or PharmD degree
• Engineering degree preferred
• Experience leading teams/programs
• Working knowledge of cardiovascular or structural heart disease device therapies
• Experience writing publications within a medical device company or related industry
• Excellent writing skills (CMPP, BELS, AMWA, MWC certification a plus)
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Experience conducting literature searches and literature reviews
• Clinical trial experience
• Strong team player and the ability to adapt to competing priorities
• Experience working with physicians/key opinion leaders in an industry or clinical setting
• Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$131,200 -$196,800The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
