<p style="text-align:inherit"></p><p style="text-align:inherit"></p><p><span>Darden is hiring research assistants for Fall 2025 who will report directly to Darden faculty or the Office of Research Services. This posting is for multiple positions. Work may include cleaning and parsing data, web scraping, and data documentation. Potential topics include marketing, the economy, leadership characteristics, entrepreneurship, and other topics relevant to faculty research initiatives.</span></p><p></p><p><b><span>Responsibilities:</span></b></p><ul><li><span>Create data sets by researching publicly available information on companies or </span><span>cities</span></li><li><span>Assist with preparation and storage of large datasets</span></li><li><span>Provide documentation on created datasets</span></li><li><span>Pull data from reports, the web, and other sources</span></li><li>Depending on position, work could include working with virtual machines and cloud platforms.</li><li><span>Other duties as assigned</span></li></ul><p style="text-align:inherit"></p><p style="text-align:inherit"></p><p><b><span>Skills and Abilities:</span></b></p><ul><li><span>Ability to read through multiple reports, mine public databases, and distill information into a database (excel spreadsheet or other formats).</span></li><li><span>Familiarity with big datasets</span></li><li><span>Experience with Python, Java, and/or SQL</span></li><li><span>Experience with machine learning or large language models for research pre</span><span>ferred.</span></li><li><span>Very strong written and verbal communication</span></li><li><span>Strong synthesis skills (reading and summarizing arguments)</span></li><li><span>Strong attention to detail</span></li><li><span>Able to work independently while balancing multiple projects</span></li><li><span>Willing to attack a problem from different angles when the first approach does </span><span>not work</span></li></ul><p></p><p><span>UVA undergraduate and graduate students are encouraged to apply. Position is open to students in business, accounting, economics, social sciences, humanities, statistics, math, computer science, data science, or other disciplines with strong programming and computational skills.</span></p><p></p><p><span>Hourly pay rate depends on level of education. Students pursing a:</span></p><ul><li><span>4-year degree: $15.00/hour</span></li><li><span>MA Degree: $20.00/hour</span></li><li><span>Ph.D. Degree: $25/hour</span></li></ul><p></p><p><span>Positions offers 10-20 hours/week.
