About the position
Our client is seeking a Senior Specialist to provide comprehensive support for a z/TPF operating system environment within a large government data center. This role is critical in ensuring the smooth operation of the z/TPF system, which includes technical support, problem resolution, and remote training for users. The Senior Specialist will be responsible for all aspects of z/TPF hardware and software support, which encompasses applying PUTs, assembling, linking, and installing new images, as well as system generation, recoup, and capture/restore processes. Additionally, the role involves supporting zSeries hardware or software upgrades specific to the z/TPF environment. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the TPF Toolkit, which is essential for the development, debugging, and deployment of z/TPF applications. They should also have the capability to test z/TPF software in a VPARS guest environment, ensuring that all applications function correctly and efficiently. Familiarity with the z/TPF Build environment is crucial, as is experience with TPF supporting hardware technologies, including SACS, DASD, and TOS console. Proficiency in coding languages such as Assembler, REXX, and Java is highly desirable, as these skills will be instrumental in performing the required tasks effectively. This position offers a generous compensation package, with a base salary of up to $180K, along with a comprehensive suite of benefits.
