About the position
The Cigna Group's Sales and Contracting Development Program (SCDP) is an intensive multi-week training initiative designed for early career hires, focusing on developing essential business acumen, negotiation, and relationship-building skills necessary for success in healthcare sales. This program is tailored for individuals who are passionate about making a difference in the healthcare industry and are eager to embark on a challenging and rewarding career path. Participants will engage in a variety of learning environments, including virtual classrooms, in-person training sessions, structured fieldwork, and mentoring opportunities. The program aims to equip participants with the tools and knowledge required to navigate the complexities of healthcare sales effectively. Throughout the program, participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of Cigna's medical, dental, and supplemental products and services, as well as the intricacies of the insurance industry. The curriculum includes role-based training and covers critical topics such as broker and client relations, product knowledge, and effective communication strategies. Participants will also have the opportunity to network with peers and industry experts during onsite sessions at Cigna Headquarters, enhancing their learning experience through collaborative activities and practical applications. Upon successful completion of the program, Sales Track Associates will transition into sales roles across Cigna's Employer, Dental, or Supplemental businesses, where they will be expected to establish and maintain relationships with insurance brokers and clients, promote Cigna's product suite, and work closely with various internal teams to achieve their goals. This program not only prepares participants for immediate success in their roles but also lays the foundation for a fulfilling career in healthcare sales.
Responsibilities
• Establish, develop, and maintain relationships with insurance brokers and clients.
,
• Act as a resource to clients by offering solutions to their concerns.
,
• Engage and partner with the communities served by Cigna.
,
• Promote Cigna's product suite and services by having an in-depth understanding of offerings.
,
• Collaborate with internal and external teams to accomplish sales goals.
,
• Communicate new product and service opportunities to appropriate company staff.
,
• Prepare status reports, including activity, closings, follow-up, and adherence to goals.
,
• Follow up on new client leads and referrals resulting from field activity.
Requirements
• Senior in a Baccalaureate Program, graduating no later than June 2025 or a bachelor's degree with no more than 2 years of work experience post-graduation.
,
• Preferred majors: Business Administration, Sales, Risk Management, Healthcare Administration, Economics, Public Health, Marketing, Communications.
,
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred.

• Willing and able to relocate to hiring territory in the U.S.
,
• Strong communication and presentation skills, along with listening ability.
,
• Effective critical thinking, problem solving, and influencing skills.
,
• Exceptional work ethic and integrity.

• Ability to work successfully in teams and in leadership positions.
