About the Role

Trend New York Architects is seeking a highly knowledgeable Zoning & Code Specialist to join our growing team. This full-time, remote role is ideal for an experienced Architect or Project Manager who possesses a deep understanding of New York City zoning and building codes, particularly in the context of green building practices.

You will serve as the team’s go-to expert on zoning regulations, responsible for conducting detailed zoning analyses and advising our architectural team on code compliance for projects across all NYC boroughs.

Key Responsibilities
• Conduct comprehensive zoning analyses for potential and ongoing projects across NYC
• Provide clear guidance on NYC Zoning Resolution, Building Code, and related regulations
• Interpret zoning maps, tax lots, FIRM maps, and deed restrictions
• Evaluate building feasibility and potential uses for properties based on zoning requirements
• Advise architects and designers on code-compliant design options and implications
• Stay current with changes in zoning and building codes and share updates with the team
• Support the firm in aligning with green building standards and sustainable development best practices
• Communicate findings clearly through written reports, diagrams, or verbal consultations

Qualifications
• Licensed Architect or experienced Architectural Project Manager strongly preferred
• Minimum 5 years of experience with NYC zoning and building codes
• Proven experience conducting zoning analyses and advising design teams
• Familiarity with DOB BIS, Zola, and ZoLa tools
• Strong knowledge of NYC Department of Buildings, Environmental Control Board, and Landmarks Preservation Commission regulations
• Experience with green building practices (e.g., LEED, Passive House) is a strong plus
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment and manage multiple projects

Compensation & Growth
