About the position
Responsibilities
- Report and track accidents and injuries.
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and injuries, preparing reports outlining root causes and recommendations for prevention.
- Review and inspect project traffic control for compliance with safety regulations.
- Conduct field investigations to evaluate construction and maintenance activities for safety.
- Monitor contractor and department operations for safety practices and compliance.
- Analyze near-miss incidents and recommend preventative actions.
- Schedule and conduct safety meetings.
- Assess safety training needs and recommend training programs.
- Instruct and coordinate safety training with the district trainer.
- Investigate industrial and vehicular accidents for tort claims defense.
Requirements
- Experience inspecting highway construction and maintenance project activities for safety compliance.
- Ability to recognize potential safety hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations related to highway construction and maintenance.
- Experience in preparing written reports and making oral presentations.
