Remote Medical Billing Specialist (Collections Specialist) with behavioral health or substance abuse
Contract (3-4months) with potential for permanent placement
• Location: Remote
Our client is seeking a Remote Medical Billing Specialist that will be responsible for following up on outstanding claims and collections from Medicaid and commercial insurance companies. Your primary goal will be to ensure that claims are processed, paid, and posted in a timely and accurate manner. This role requires excellent communication skills, a strong understanding of medical billing processes, and the ability to work independently in a remote setting.
• *Key Responsibilities:**
• Follow up on unpaid claims with Medicaid and commercial insurance companies.
• Conduct research and resolve any discrepancies or issues related to claims.
• Communicate with insurance representatives to obtain information on claim status and resolve payment issues.
• Accurately post payments and adjustments to patient accounts.
• Maintain detailed and organized records of follow-up activities and claim status.
• Identify and escalate complex billing issues to the appropriate department.
• Stay updated on insurance policies, billing regulations, and industry best practices.
• Collaborate with other team members to achieve departmental goals and improve processes.
• *Qualifications:**
• High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in medical billing or coding is a plus.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing and collections, preferably with Medicaid and commercial insurance.
• Strong knowledge of medical billing codes, terminology, and insurance procedures.
• Proficiency in using medical billing software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote work environment.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record-keeping.
• Problem-solving skills and the ability to handle challenging situations with professionalism.
