About the position
Parents Anonymous® Inc. is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Overnight Helpline Counselor to join their team. This hybrid position requires a behavioral health professional with a Master's degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Psychology, or Counseling. The role involves providing trauma-informed emotional support to diverse parents, children, and youth through various communication channels, including calls, texts, and live chats on the California Parent & Youth Helpline. The counselor will also facilitate a free, weekly online Parents Anonymous support group, engaging with callers empathetically and helping them navigate their immediate emotional challenges without judgment. As an Overnight Helpline Counselor, you will be trained to deliver Parents Anonymous® Evidence-Based Programs, which are designed to strengthen families and empower parents. You will be responsible for addressing crises such as suicidal ideation and child or elder abuse, while also documenting interactions in a database. The position requires a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to strict protocols during randomized clinical trials. You will also engage in outreach initiatives to increase participation in Parents Anonymous programs, ensuring that families receive the support they need. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about family strengthening and are committed to the well-being of others. The position offers the opportunity to work from home, with some required onsite training. Responsibilities
• Utilize Parents Anonymous® Evidence-Based therapeutic processes to respond and assist Parents, Children, and Youth through phone/texts/live-chats/video chats on the CA Parent and Youth Helpline and document interactions in the database.

• Provide emotional support and locate appropriate resources in response to their issue or concern.
,
• Address crises such as suicidal ideation and child and elder abuse and neglect.
,
• Retrieve and reply to emails and messages.
,
• Utilize a caller database to collect and document calls and outcomes.
,
• Document interested parents, results of Building Family Strength Interviews and Post National Outcome Surveys, and Group Attendance in the Program Tracking System.
,
• Participate in the Randomized Clinical Trial with strict protocols to be adhered to.
,
• Attend all required training and weekly clinical supervision.
,
• Implement all Parents Anonymous® policies and procedures.
,
• Maintain confidentiality of all services provided.
,
• Engage in outreach initiatives to agencies/organizations to increase engagement of Parents, Caregivers, Children, and Youth in Parents Anonymous® programs.

• Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
• Must possess a Master's Degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Psychology or Counseling from an accredited graduate school.

• Must have a BBS license, and 1,000 hours of supervision completed preferred.
,
• Fully registered with the Board of Behavioral Sciences preferred but not required.
,
• Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred and other languages spoken by Asian Pacific Islanders is a plus.

• Must have a minimum of 1-2 years working in social services with Parents and/or Youth.
,
• Must have a minimum of 1-2 years of individual or group counseling.
,
• Must have well-developed computer skills.
,
• Patient learner, high intelligence, passionate, open to feedback, and team player.
,
• Willingness to be flexible to fulfill the requirements of the position.
,
• Must be culturally responsive, responsible, and able to seek assistance from supervisor when crises arise.
,
• Must have a smartphone, reliable in-home internet access, and a private room with a door that can be closed where confidential, HIPAA-compliant conversations can be held with individuals.

• Must embrace the philosophy and theory of change of Parent Anonymous® including mutual support, parent leadership, shared leadership®, and personal growth and change.

• Attend 80 hours of Comprehensive Training on Zoom and In Person.
