About the position
SunOpta is seeking a dedicated Quality Assurance Manager to oversee and coordinate the quality inspection of ingredients and materials produced in our manufacturing processes. This role is crucial in ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of quality and safety. The Quality Assurance Manager will be responsible for maintaining the most current product specifications, ensuring that the latest versions are active across all departments. This includes managing the incoming ingredient vendor approval process and organizing supplier approval questionnaires. The successful candidate will create, maintain, and train all documents required in the SQF auditing system, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs) for both the lab and production floor. In this position, the Quality Assurance Manager will set up necessary controls to check lab procedures and equipment, conduct and report quarterly lab proficiency testing, and manage all send-outs, including customer samples and outside lab submittals. The role also involves coordinating the resampling of finished products in a timely manner to distinguish between good and reject products. The manager will be responsible for accurate reporting of all inbound products, materials, supplies, and inventories in storage, as well as maintaining the environmental program and lab sample retention program. Additionally, the Quality Assurance Manager will ensure the proper maintenance of lab equipment and schedule calibrations for plant equipment related to quality. The role requires developing, maintaining, and training all laboratory SOPs, driving continuous improvement and efficiencies for quality assurance, and managing quality data entry for facility operations. The manager will assist the Quality Manager with SQF needs and work with management to ensure effective organizational design, ensuring that roles are correctly organized, defined, documented, and communicated to all employees. Safety procedures, tools, and record-keeping will also be managed through site leadership, adhering to company Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and safety procedures. The Quality Assurance Manager will wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when required and perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
