EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, COMMERCIAL & OMNICHANNEL EFFECTIVENESS

SUMMARY:

The Executive Director of Commercial & Omnichannel Effectiveness will lead a multidisciplinary effort focused on executional excellence and enablement of the commercial team at Ionis. This role oversees a team that operationalizes the strategic vision, executes the technology, people and processes within the commercial organization, and measures and reports on effectiveness. This role oversees a highly cross-functional team focused on commercial execution support, including performance reporting, sales and field effectiveness tracking, omnichannel operations, and enablement tools. It also partners closely with omnichannel strategy, IT, field operations, and brand teams to ensure strong execution of commercial plans. The ideal candidate will bring a strategic mindset, strong commercial acumen, deep analytics and omnichannel expertise, and the ability to influence and align stakeholders at all levels of the organization. This role requires a deep commitment to collaboration, effective stakeholder management, and compelling executive communications around the team’s strategy, objectives, and value to the organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Commercial Reporting & Execution Enablement
• Define and lead Ionis’ commercial and omnichannel reporting and performance measurement capabilities, building scalable tools and dashboards that support performance tracking and field enablement
• Develop a multi-year roadmap to evolve commercial reporting infrastructure to further innovation, executional effectiveness and competitiveness
• Oversee design and delivery of dashboards and performance reporting to provide actionable summaries and trends tailored for brand, field, and executive stakeholders, establishing a clear reporting cadence in collaboration with senior commercial leaders
• Support launch planning and readiness by partnering with brand teams to define measurement approaches, oversee launch performance tracking, and highlight trends to inform executional changes across field and marketing activities
• Oversee targeted performance analysis across market dynamics, field force activity, and incentive compensation programs to inform execution and resource allocation
• Manage vendor partnerships and oversee external data acquisition and integration to support commercial execution, ensuring fit-for-purpose capabilities aligned with business needs

Omnichannel Operations and Orchestration
• Oversee campaign execution across channels
• Oversee digital asset production & maintenance (coding, tagging, testing, QC)
• Lead the development and oversight of omnichannel systems and infrastructure, ensuring timely campaign execution, cross-platform integration, and alignment with customer engagement goals
• Oversee analytics across digital and personal engagement to assess campaign effectiveness and customer impact
• Oversee development of segmentation strategies, attribution models, and predictive models enabling personalization and next-best-action initiatives

Team & Cross-Functional Leadership
• Lead and develop a high-performing team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement
• Lead annual budget and capacity planning for Commercial & Omnichannel Effectiveness team
• Partner with IT, Insights, and other functions to ensure an aligned approach to analytics and data management, including defining business needs and driving collaborative resource planning
• Represent the Commercial & Omnichannel Effectiveness team with senior leaders, providing compelling narratives that translate data into strategic insight and action
• Promote a data-driven culture by embedding actionable reporting and performance insights in commercial decision-making
• Responsible for ensuring and enabling deep partnership with Omnichannel Strategy team to seamlessly translate strategic vision into a plan for execution with measurable outcomes

REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor’s degree required, ideally in a quantitative or business field (e.g., Economics, Statistics, Engineering, Business, Health Sciences); MBA or other advanced degree preferred
• 15+ years of combined experience in commercial operations and/or omnichannel or related functions in biotech/pharma or relevant professional services; experience in a launch or high-growth environment preferred
• Expertise in commercial reporting and omnichannel/digital analytics in a regulated healthcare environment; demonstrated ability to set strategic direction for commercial analytics
• Proficiency with analytics platforms and tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Veeva, SQL, Python/R); familiarity with commercial data sources (e.g., claims, EMR, CRM, HCP engagement data)
• Deep understanding of commercial business challenges and market dynamics in biotech/pharma, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights to inform commercial decision-making
• Exceptional communication and storytelling skills, with ability to influence and align stakeholders at all levels
• Demonstrated leadership experience and a track record of building and leading teams, effectively partnering across functions to gain alignment, and improving business performance
• Knowledge of compliance and privacy considerations in healthcare data use
• Prior leadership of vendor or offshore analytics partnerships preferred
