About the position

As a Coder WFH (Work From Home), you will play a crucial role in reviewing and coding medical records for various practices. This position requires a keen eye for detail and a strong understanding of medical coding guidelines. You will be responsible for resolving complex coding scenarios and providing feedback to physicians and practice management to ensure accurate documentation and billing processes. Your work will directly impact the efficiency of our healthcare services and the overall patient experience. In this role, you will receive and review charge documents from clinics and hospitals, ensuring that all charge information is accurate and complete. You will abstract relevant codes from medical records, including CPT-4, HCPCS II, and ICD-9-CM, and enter this information into our billing system in a timely manner. Collaboration with the Accounts Receivable (A/R) team will be essential as you work to resolve any coding-related denials and rejections. Staying current with coding guidelines and federal regulations is vital, and you will be expected to enhance your professional growth through ongoing education and training. Additionally, you will assist practice staff with documentation, billing, coding, and reimbursement issues, maintaining strict confidentiality and adhering to our Code of Conduct. Meeting productivity and accuracy standards is a key expectation of this position, and you will be supported by a team that values your contributions to patient care and operational excellence.

Responsibilities
• Review and code designated office/hospital notes for one or multiple practices.

• Resolve complex coding scenarios and provide feedback to physicians and practice management.

• Receive and review charge documents from the clinic and/or hospital.
,
• Ensure charge information provided is correct and accurate.
,
• Abstract CPT-4, HCPCS II, and ICD-9-CM from medical records.
,
• Enter charges into the billing system in a timely manner.
,
• Collaborate with the A/R team on follow-up and resolution of coding-related denials and rejections.
,
• Maintain current knowledge of coding guidelines and relevant federal regulations.
,
• Enhance professional growth through in-service meetings and educational programs.
,
• Track denial patterns to address systemic issues.
,
• Assist and direct practice staff regarding documentation, billing, coding, and reimbursement issues.
,
• Maintain strict confidentiality and meet designated productivity and accuracy rates.

Requirements
• One year of coding and/or billing experience in a healthcare environment.

• Certification from a recognized governing body such as CCS, CCS-P, RHIT, RHIA, CPC, or CPC-H.

Nice-to-haves
• Knowledge of eCW billing system and/or other related billing systems.

• Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy and physiology.

• Skill in organization and knowledge of specialty medical practices.
