Responsibilities-
• Responsible for providing legal advice and recommendations for initiatives and projects developed in response to clients overall objectives and needs.
• Focus of work is on large scale and/or high financial level projects with broad department and/or organizational impact and moderate level of risk.
• Works as a strategic partner and decision maker with more senior leaders, and manages work independently.

Primary duties may include, but are not limited to -
• Applies knowledge of one or more legal specialties with sound business acumen and knowledge of the business goals and objectives as they relate to the legal matter at hand.
• Determines methods and procedures on new assignments and may coordinate legal projects.
• Contributes to overall results of an SBU or CEE unit and/or department.
• Uses professional legal concepts and principles to contribute to development of companys concepts and principles.
• May possess deep technical knowledge or broader scope of knowledge.
• Provides instructions to junior members of the department and concise, timely briefings to senior level business and legal management.
• Routinely works on complex problems in which analysis of situations and/or facts require an in-depth evaluation of various factors.
• Serves as a resource for other attorneys and paralegals as well as business clients instructing and advising on technical and tactical issues.
• Assesses and mitigates risk.
• Reports to management any identified business exposure and associated risks as well as mitigation techniques being utilized.

Additional Information -
• This role will be sole attorney supporting real estate matters for Elevance Health and its affiliates handling all landlord disputes
• Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial real estate leasing transactions from term sheet to execution.
• Provide legal guidance to Corporate Real Estate leadership regarding leases, estoppel certificates, SNDAs, and workouts.
• Work closely with external brokers to ensure that business terms and conditions in term sheets are accurately represented in contracts
• Provide strategic guidance to business units to address issues and disputes
• Provide guidance and support for vendor contracting matters (SaaS Agreements, Master Services Agreements, SOWs, Change Orders, etc.) on an as-needed basis
• Hours - (M-F) 8a - 5p
• This is a contract role.

Requirements-
• Requires a JD, current license to practice law, and a minimum of 9 years of specific industry and/or technical legal experience post licensure; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
• Experience managing outside counsel strongly preferred.

Elevance Health operates in a Hybrid Workforce Strategy. Unless specified as primarily virtual by the hiring manager, contractors are required to work at an Elevance Health location at least once per week, and potentially several times per week. Specific requirements and expectations for time onsite will be discussed as part of the hiring process. Candidates must reside within 50 miles or 1-hour commute each way of a relevant Elevance Health location.
