About the position

The Senior Technical Writer will play a crucial role in the Materials and Structural Analysis division, focusing on the development and management of technical content for electron microscope systems and software. This position involves defining content strategies, managing projects, analyzing business processes, and mentoring junior team members, all while working in a fully remote capacity.

Responsibilities
• Develop and deliver technical content for electron microscope systems and software.

• Define content strategies and architectures at the portfolio level for specialized publications.
,
• Conduct interviews, research, and hands-on work to capture and synthesize source material.
,
• Architect customer-facing content using multimedia options appropriate for specific purposes and audiences.
,
• Design and perform user research to define audiences and evaluate the effectiveness of the team's work.
,
• Lead the implementation of new publication workflows and processes at the local site.
,
• Help develop, communicate, and manage project plans for new functional initiatives.
,
• Provide transparency to all elements of a project to leadership, collaborators, and resources.
,
• Collaborate on crafting solutions to improve business processes in support of strategic vision.
,
• Work with internal business partners to gather information, requirements, and priorities for project planning.
,
• Train and counsel less experienced technical communicators and project teammates.

Requirements
• BS/BA in a writing- or science-related field, or equivalent combination of experience and education.
,
• 7+ years of technical writing experience.
,
• Background in electron microscopy or related scientific field.
,
• Solid experience working within Agile software development environments.
,
• Advanced knowledge of structured authoring and single-sourcing, particularly using the MadCap software suite and other XML-based authoring tools.
,
• Thorough experience with GitLab, Jira, HTML, CSS, Microsoft Office 365, Teams, and SharePoint.
,
• Successful project work in cross-functional and cross-cultural international work teams.
,
• Fluency in English, both verbal and written.
