One Fair Wage is an organization seeking to raise wages, enhance working conditions in the service sector and end all subminimum wages in the United States.

We are hiring restaurant workers, bar staff, and other tipped workers to join the fight and collect signatures to get this veto referendum on the ballot. This is your chance to stand up, get paid, and make history.

The Opportunity

One Fair Wage is hiring canvassers to collect petition signatures from registered voters across Michigan in support of the veto referendum. Canvassers will speak with community members about why One Fair Wage matters, follow legal and campaign guidelines, and track their progress to ensure success.

The ideal candidate for this position is strategic, energetic, and innovative, and has experience in both worker organizing and organizer supervision. The candidate will bring strong organizational, worker relationship management, and planning skills to this role and will serve as a driving force behind the ballot measure campaigns in these states. This is a full-time position, but candidates seeking other types of arrangements are welcome to apply.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collect petition signatures from registered voters in public spaces (markets, events, transit stations, etc.) and sometimes via door-knocking. Talk to community members about the importance of One Fair Wage.
  • Follow all legal requirements and campaign petitioning guidelines.
  • Submit signature sheets regularly and track progress accurately.
  • Attend short trainings and participate in team check-ins.

Qualifications

The Ideal candidate will have:

  • Current or former restaurant, bar, or service industry workers preferred.
  • Outgoing, passionate, and willing to engage with many people.
  • Reliable, organized, and able to follow directions.
  • Must be 18+ and eligible to work in the U.S.

Compensation and Benefits

One Fair Wage offers:
