PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS NOT A PATIENT SCHEDULING POSITION. THIS POSITION IS FOR PHYSICIAN SCHEDULING IN A HOSPITAL ENVIRONMENT
POSITION SUMMARY:
Develop and maintain physician & advanced practitioner schedules with Medical Directors and Operations at multiple hospitals. Position requires partnering with operations, recruiting, privileging, and on-site teams to ensure coverage on a daily basis. Consult and offer strategic planning for best options of staffing needs. Own all communication with operations, medical director, and all corporate departments to ensure coverage of shifts.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITILES:
• Generate schedules to guarantee physicians are assigned his/her minimum commitment of shifts per contract.
• Complete, confirm and communicate all schedule shifts with physicians and mid-level providers.
• Confirm and distribute monthly schedules to physicians 3-6 months in advance.
• Develop and maintain strong working relationships with contracted physicians and mid-level providers.
• Communicate vital information obtained from physician contact to all team members including (operations, credentialing and recruiting).
• Proficiency negotiating additional compensation as needed with approval from the Director of Staffing or Operations.
• When appropriate, and approved in advance by the Director of Staffing, identify qualified candidates through third party locum agencies.
• Assist in scheduling provider orientation at each program.
• Participate in after-hours calls for scheduling emergencies.
• Maintain roster of all physicians and advanced practitioners to ensure appropriate ratio of temporary and permanent physicians.
• Provide financial impacts of staffing decisions.
• Track and report any additional pay per payroll period and report to Director of Staffing one day before payroll cut off.
• Address physician payroll concerns.
• Adhere to all policies and procedures of the staffing department.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Three or more years of scheduling in a fast paced environment, preferably in the healthcare industry. Minimum 6 months in Emergency Medicine scheduling experience.
• Exceptional written and oral communication skills
• Attention to detail and accuracy
• Excellence in problem solving
• Must excel at prioritizing workload in a fast paced environment
• Solid interpersonal skills and ability to work with and communicate to individuals at all levels of organization and hospital programs
• Strong negotiation skills
• Able to handle confidential information
• Demonstrate exceptional written and verbal communication skills, ensuring clear and effective interaction with multiple audiences
• Excel at interpersonal relationships
• Capable of working autonomously or collaboratively in remote environment.
• High level of professionalism
• College degree preferred
