About the position
The Social Media Content Strategist position is a two-year contract role with a major nonprofit organization located in Washington, DC. This role offers a hybrid work schedule, allowing employees to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays while being on-site at the office from Tuesday to Thursday. The primary focus of this position is to manage the development of social media content across various platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X (formerly Twitter), TikTok, and Pinterest, for the organization's flagship channels. The strategist will partner with internal teams and external agencies to create engaging content that aligns with the organization's messaging priorities and community engagement goals. In this role, the strategist will advise internal teams on best practices for social media and explore opportunities to leverage social media to achieve specific objectives. Collaboration with the paid social team and agencies will be essential for developing and executing effective social media marketing campaigns. The strategist will also be responsible for maintaining the organization's brand voice across all social platforms, working closely with the senior community advisor to ensure consistency and alignment with the organization's overall strategy. The position requires the development of timely and effective social media content, including copywriting, in collaboration with various internal teams and external creative agencies. The strategist will manage project timelines, ensuring that all social media assets are delivered on time and adhere to brand guidelines. Analyzing content performance and providing constructive feedback to enhance community engagement will also be key responsibilities of this role.
Responsibilities
• Manage development of social media content across a defined portfolio of issue areas and programs for the Organization's flagship social media channels.

• Partner with internal teams and agencies on both organic and paid strategies to deliver content that engages the Organization's communities while aligning with key messaging priorities.

• Advise internal teams on social media best practices and opportunities to use social media to meet identified goals and objectives.

• Collaborate with paid social team and agency on development and execution of social media marketing campaigns.
,
• Maintain the Organization's brand voice across social platforms, in collaboration with the senior community advisor.

• Grow key metrics and provide reporting in line with social media goals and strategy.
,
• Develop timely, accurate and effective social media content, including social media copywriting, in close collaboration with Brand, Strategic Communications, Integrated Marketing and Editorial teams, as well as external creative agency.

• Develop campaign briefs and manage content reviews with agency and internal stakeholders to ensure all social media content adheres to brand guidelines, risk mitigation and platform best practices.

• Develop and manage project timelines to meet stakeholder needs and internal objectives, ensuring timely delivery of social media assets from internal and external partners.
,
• Analyze content performance and provide constructive guidance to better engage communities.
Requirements
• Completion of a bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or a related discipline.

• 5+ years of experience in developing and implementing social media strategies at an agency or large, complex organization.
,
• Previous social media management experience is required, including social content and community management.
,
• Some experience with paid social media marketing is strongly preferred.
,
• Strong working knowledge of social media platforms and current best practices.

• Proven track record in applying trends and emerging opportunities to leverage social media to further a brand's goals.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

• Commitment to quality and accuracy - strong attention to detail.
