About the position

The Provider Coordination and Benefits Specialist plays a crucial role in the Department of Health's Office of Infectious Disease, focusing on ensuring access to essential health services for clients enrolled in programs aimed at reducing HIV infections. This position involves coordinating healthcare claims, resolving eligibility conflicts, and providing technical assistance to improve client access to care, ultimately contributing to better health outcomes and promoting health equity.

Responsibilities
• Coordinating medical, dental, and laboratory claims to provide seamless health coverage for clients.

• Resolving eligibility and insurance conflicts for clients with multiple payers (Medicare, Medicaid, etc.).
,
• Providing technical training and guidance to contracted providers, local health jurisdictions, and other partners to improve client access to care.
,
• Addressing billing issues, ensuring timely provider payments, and supporting client services to eliminate access barriers.
,
• Engaging in quality management initiatives, including policy documentation, compliance reviews, and annual audits.
,
• Maintaining active communication with clients and partners to promote equitable healthcare access, with sensitivity to cultural diversity and various client backgrounds.

Requirements
• Five (5) years of experience in professional management, consultative, or volunteer roles that include screening individuals for eligibility and coordination of benefits in public, social service, or health care programs.

• Experience working with databases that include navigating, updating, and researching information.
,
• Professional level experience providing technical assistance in-person and by phone/computer.
,
• Experience communicating information via presentations and visual, oral, and written materials to individuals and audiences of different cultures, education levels, socio-economic levels, and learning styles.

Nice-to-haves
• Experience working with confidentiality or sensitive information.

• Experience working with ethnic, racial, economically, and sexually diverse populations and persons who have experienced homelessness, mental illness, and/or substance use.

• An associate's degree or higher in public health, social work, psychology, health care administration, public or business administration, nursing, or a related field.

• Knowledge of Washington State HIV care system.
,
• Awareness of HIV risk factors and biomedical interventions to prevent HIV.
,
• Experience using a web-based data system to document customer information and history.
,
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
,
• Strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.
