About the position

As a Manager of Personal Lines at USAA, you will lead a team of account managers dedicated to providing insurance solutions for members with property insurance needs in California. This role involves coaching, mentoring, and developing the Personal Lines team to ensure they deliver exceptional service and meet the financial security needs of military members and their families. You will collaborate with internal and external partners to enhance processes and support your team's performance, while also being accountable for achieving business results and compliance with risk policies.

Responsibilities
• Lead and mentor a team of employees providing personal lines insurance solutions.

• Collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure quality submissions and appropriate coverage.
,
• Review key reporting results to address process adherence issues and exceptions.
,
• Apply Agency Management Systems for operational support in a multi-carrier environment.
,
• Maintain industry expertise to support team development in technical and interpersonal skills.
,
• Drive business results and ensure team members provide appropriate product solutions to meet member needs.
,
• Handle member and team issues, making risk decisions based on policies.
,
• Collaborate with external carriers and partners to contribute to departmental success.
,
• Assess internal/external talent with the talent acquisition team for informed hiring decisions.
,
• Lead the team in achieving individual and team goals, providing regular mentorship and feedback.
,
• Ensure risks associated with business activities are identified, measured, monitored, and controlled.

Requirements
• Bachelor's degree or 4 years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
,
• 6 years of insurance sales and service experience, including at least 2 years in Personal Lines insurance.
,
• 2 years of direct team lead, supervisory, or management experience.
,
• Experience with Agency Management Systems.
,
• Ability to work in an agile and dynamic environment.
,
• Valid Property and Casualty insurance license for home state or ability to obtain it within 90 days.

Nice-to-haves
• Experience providing personal lines insurance solutions in the California market.

• Sales leadership experience with proven results in developing impactful teams.

• Experience working with a CRM platform.

• Experience with Excess & Surplus Lines.

• US military experience through service or as a military spouse/domestic partner.
