Job Summary:

The Employee shall contribute to improving the usability, efficiency, and effectiveness of IT systems by providing high-quality documentation that empowers users to effectively utilize and troubleshoot technology resources. This position is responsible for providing content review, generation, and editing services. The Employee will write clear, concise, and comprehensive documentation that communicates complex technical information to a variety of audiences – both internally for the department and externally for the government customer. This involves translating intricate technical concepts, processes, and procedures into easily understandable written content, such as user manuals, technical guides, system documentation, API documentation, and troubleshooting guides. The Employee will work closely with subject matter experts, software developers, engineers, and other offices to gather information and ensure accuracy in the documentation. IT technical writers also play a crucial role in maintaining and updating existing documentation to reflect changes in technology, software updates, or organizational processes. Additionally, the Employee may assist in developing training materials and tutorials to facilitate user understanding and adoption of IT systems and solutions.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
• None.

Duties/Responsibilities:
• Develop newsletters highlighting weekly vulnerability and patching activity.
• Develop guides for how to utilize certain technologies.
• Draft, review, and edit IT presentation material.
• Generate feedback forms using tools such as Microsoft Forms.
• Provide written recommendations on Government drafts of executive summaries and briefings.
• Provide recommendations and input into other content and presentations.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Proven ability to write, edit, and format technical documentation (e.g., system security plans, SOPs, user manuals, risk assessments, audit reports).
• Exceptional ability to write clear, concise, and accurate technical content for both technical and nontechnical audiences.
• Strong grammar, editing, and proofreading skills with attention to detail.
• Strong command of plain language writing for both technical and nontechnical audiences.
• Experience with version control, document management systems, and collaboration platforms (e.g., SharePoint, Confluence, Git, MS Teams).
• Ability to translate complex technical inputs from engineers or analysts into clear, wellstructured documentation.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple documents, deadlines, and review cycles.
• Comfortable interfacing with cybersecurity SMEs, engineers, and project managers to gather and validate technical content.

Education and Experience (Required):
• Experience (7 years) developing IT presentation material for technical information (cybersecurity).
• Experience (10 years) working collaboratively with senior and support IT personnel.
• Experience (10 years) with Microsoft Office Tools such as Word, PowerPoint Excel, Visio, and Forms.
• Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related field.
• IT/Cybersecurity certifications (e.g., Network+, Security+, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)) are preferred.

Physical Requirements:

This is a remote position that primarily involves prolonged periods of sitting and extensive use of a computer. The candidate must be able to:
• Remain seated and work at a computer for extended durations.
• Use a keyboard, mouse, and monitor effectively for long periods.
• Communicate clearly via video conferencing, phone, and email.
• Maintain a suitable remote work environment with reliable internet access.

Work Environment/ Location:

Primary work location is Remote.

Travel Required:

This position does not require regular travel. However, occasional travel may be requested to support company events, team meetings, or customer-related activities as needed. Any such trip will be communicated in advance and coordinated accordingly.

Work Authorization / Security Clearance Requirements:
• U.S. Citizenship is required for all applicants in accordance with federal contract requirements.
• Security clearance is not required at this time; however, candidates must be eligible to obtain a clearance if future contract needs require it.
