Works independently as well as with the Charge Services team.</p><p></p><p><u>Minimum Requirements</u></p><ul><li>Associate’s degree or equivalent in education and experience</li><li>Current AAPC or AHIMA Coding Certification (e.g., CPC, COC, CCS, Specialty Coding Credential) or RHIT, RHIA, CEDC (Certified Emergency Department Coder).</li><li>Must maintain active certification for continued employment.</li><li>2 years’ experience in medical record coding.</li><li>Demonstrated high proficiency in Physician at Teaching Hospital (PATH) documentation guidelines</li><li>Knowledge of insurance company, third-party and government reimbursement programs.</li><li>Extensive demonstrated knowledge of Medicare rules, Local Coverage Determinations, National Correct Coding Initiative and proper procedure coding sequence.</li><li>Demonstrated proficiency in use of computer hardware and software systems, programs and devices.</li><li>Excellent independent work ethic along with strong sense of team.</li><li>Ability to effectively communicate verbally and written with all levels of staff.</li></ul><h2></h2><p><u>Preferred Qualifications</u></p><ul><li>Bachelor’s degree</li><li>Cerner or Allscripts experience</li><li>Emergency Department coding</li></ul>
