Summary:

We are seeking a skilled ALC (Assembly Language Code) Developer with hands-on experience supporting IRS systems and mainframe environments. The ideal candidate will be responsible for analyzing, maintaining, and enhancing legacy IRS applications written in ALC, ensuring operational stability, data accuracy, and seamless integration with modernized platforms.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Maintain and enhance existing IRS applications written in ALC
• Analyze program logic, debug errors, and provide timely production support
• Translate IRS business requirements into efficient ALC code
• Collaborate with IRS technical leads and functional stakeholders to ensure solution compliance with agency standards
• Support the migration and modernization efforts involving mainframe systems
• Document technical specifications, system flows, and change history
• Participate in code reviews, testing, and deployment activities

Qualifications:
• 5+ years of experience developing or maintaining Assembly Language (ALC) programs
• Prior experience supporting IRS legacy systems such as IMF, BMF, EPMF, IDRS, or Submission Processing
• Proficient in using IRS toolsets including Endevor, CA7, and FileAid
• Solid understanding of mainframe concepts (JCL, VSAM, DB2, TSO/ISPF)
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills in a production environment
• Familiarity with IRS data formats (EBCDIC, Copybooks) and data exchange requirements

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience supporting IRS-specific modernization efforts or transitions to AWS/cloud-based platforms
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and IRS development lifecycle (OneSDLC) processes
• Knowledge of COBOL and integration with ALC modules
• IRS badge or current IRS Public Trust Clearance preferred

Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field; or equivalent work experience Apply tot his job
