About Language Academia
Language Academia is a fast-growing language coaching studio serving students in the entertainment industry. Our tight-knit, innovative team of linguists and accent coaches is passionate about making language learning engaging, culturally rich, and deeply personalized. Whether working with actors, voice artists, or creative professionals, we bring clarity, energy, and expertise to every session. If you’re dedicated, creative, and excited to join a team that’s redefining how people learn languages, we’d love to hear from you.
Korean Tutoring
We’re looking for a passionate and creative Korean tutor who can develop their own engaging curriculum, tailor lessons for both kids and adults, and bring cultural relevance into the classroom. The ideal candidate is confident teaching beginners and heritage speakers alike, loves working with creatives, and can comfortably liaise with our clients in the entertainment industry—whether helping actors prep roles or consulting on subtitles and translations. Bonus if you enjoy sharing language tips on camera or contributing to our online audience through fun, informative content. If you’re warm, flexible, and excited to make Korean come alive for learners, we’d love to meet you.
Responsibilities
• Creating and adjusting curriculum and class plans for all group and private classes
• Group tutoring (online and in-person)
• One-on-one private student tutoring (online and in-person)
• Providing cultural expertise on Korean culture, media, and etiquette
• Creating educational and engaging content (including on-camera work for social media or YouTube)
• Writing creative blog articles about Korean language and culture
• Translating and proofreading Korean-English content (scripts, subtitles, documents, live interpretation)
• Assisting with linguistic accuracy for entertainment projects (voiceover, film, books, etc.)
• Collaborating with our creative and marketing team on class promotions and student engagement
• Providing language learning support and progress feedback to students
Requirements
• Minimum of an Associate Degree in Linguistics, Korean Literature, English Literature, Performing Arts, International Relations, or a related field (Groundlings is a PLUS)
• Bilingual fluency in Korean and English
• Experience in the film or entertainment industry (acting experience preferred)
• Comfortable speaking and presenting on camera
• Able to work with both adults and children in educational settings
• Confident leading group classes independently
• Punctual, reliable, and highly organized
• Deep passion for Korean culture and history — strong knowledge of K-pop and K-dramas is a plus
• Technologically proficient — must be familiar with Google Calendar, Google Workspace, Google Classroom, Teachworks, or similar tools
Work Environment
• Freelance contractor position with flexible scheduling
• Supportive, tight-knit, and creative team
• We champion your artistic and professional dreams — whether you're building a personal brand, pursuing performance work, or launching creative projects
• Opportunity to contribute to a growing, mission-driven company in the intersection of language, culture, and entertainment
• Access to a collaborative network of linguists, coaches, and creatives across the film and music industries
• Possibility to grow into content leadership, curriculum development, or cultural consulting roles
