About the position
The Senior Research Software Engineer at Labcorp is responsible for designing and developing a platform that supports the rapid prototyping, scalable deployment, and evaluation of diverse evidence models for clinical interpretation of genetic testing results. This role is critical in enhancing the capabilities of the Clinical Science and Interpretation (CSI) team, which combines clinical genomic expertise with AI/ML technologies to improve healthcare outcomes for patients. The position requires collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team and a commitment to fostering a productive software development culture.
Responsibilities
• Independently own services from design, implementation, testing to deployment and monitoring.

• Modernize and expand the end-to-end platform for rapid prototyping and scaling of methods for variant interpretation in genetic testing.

• Enhance computational infrastructure for machine learning and support workflows for integrating advances in biological, computer, and clinical sciences.

• Keep evidence models up-to-date and retrain them with new data.

• Write structured, tested, readable, and maintainable code.
,
• Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and distribute knowledge.
,
• Support deployment and integration of evidence models for clinical variant interpretation.

• Define solutions and operational processes to improve team performance.

• Champion a productive software engineering culture across the team.

• Encourage learning and growth among teammates in their engineering capacities.

Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, IT or related field.

• 5+ years progressive development experience.

• Industry experience with full-stack architecture and distributed systems, with fluency in Python.

• Strong ML Ops expertise and a passion for staying updated on ML Ops and data engineering technologies.

• Hands-on experience with databases and building REST APIs.

• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
