Job Summary

New York City Jobs is seeking a passionate and experienced Online Music Instructor to join our team and provide high-quality music education to students across the country. As an Online Music Instructor, you will be responsible for teaching a variety of music lessons, including but not limited to instrumental, vocal, and theory lessons, to students of varying skill levels. You will have the opportunity to inspire creativity, foster a love for music, and help students develop their musical abilities in a virtual learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide personalized music lessons to students of all ages and skill levels, including beginner, intermediate, and advanced students.
  • Teach a variety of music genres and instruments, including piano, guitar, voice, and music theory.
  • Develop lesson plans tailored to each students needs, goals, and learning styles.
  • Conduct one-on-one virtual lessons using video conferencing platforms (Zoom, Skype, etc.).
  • Track student progress and provide constructive feedback and encouragement.
  • Maintain open communication with students and parents (when applicable) regarding progress, challenges, and achievements.
  • Stay updated on new music education techniques and trends.
  • Prepare students for performances, exams, and auditions, if applicable.
  • Foster a positive and supportive virtual classroom environment.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Music, Music Education, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience as a music instructor, with at least 2 years of teaching experience.
  • Proficient in playing at least one musical instrument and/or vocal training.
  • Excellent knowledge of music theory and its application.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Experience teaching music virtually using online platforms.
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the individual needs of students.
  • Patience, enthusiasm, and a passion for music education.
  • Reliable internet connection and the necessary equipment (computer, webcam, microphone, etc.) to conduct online lessons.

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of teaching music in a private, group, or online setting.
  • Experience teaching a variety of instruments and vocal styles preferred.
  • Previous experience in online teaching environments is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with students of various ages and learning styles.

Working Hours

  • Flexible working hours; the position allows for scheduling lessons based on student availability.
