Manager, Event Planning & Hospitality
Position Overview:
The Chicago Bulls have developed a curated approach to events and hospitality that focuses on one-of-a-kind, immersive experiences and events that engages corporate partners, season tickets holders, and community partners alike. Backed by customer data and insights, our approach focuses on creating memorable moments that use the unique assets only the Bulls can provide to strengthen stakeholder and prospect relationships.
Our efforts are growing, and we are looking to add a full-time Manager of Event Planning and Hospitality. This role will report to the Senior Manager of Event Planning and Hospitality, and together you will bring to life the organization’s calendar long private event efforts, including collaborating with various departments across the organization to understand and define their event needs each season. Events could range from intimate executive dinners to 500-person sales prospecting events. The Event Planning and Hospitality team is a shared resource across the organization with a focus on key stakeholder events and experiences.
The person who fills this role is naturally creative with an eye for turning ordinary spaces and everyday experiences into extraordinary events and memorable moments. They are a strong communicator, detail oriented and organized, and confident in working closely with senior leaders, to collectively bring the Bulls brand to life through experiential opportunities that emphasize the company’s mission.
Responsibilities:
• Work in partnership with various departments to bring to life their exclusive hospitality and event needs. This role will work closely with our Game Entertainment and Events team for tech and production support as needed.
• Manage all aspects of an event or exclusive experience from pre-planning, determining resource needs, pre-event communication, and on-site coordination/setup, to post event follow up.
• Lead site and vendor selection process and negotiations for best possible rates and terms.
• Communicate with vendors, team members, and other partners promptly via email, phone and in-person meetings.
• Manage and keep accurate records of each event budget as determined by department leads. Ensure vendor invoices are submitted and paid on time.
• Work with Business Strategy & Analytics to conduct post-event assessment analysis to inform future events.
• Develop effective and collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders and maintain strong working relationships with key vendors.
Qualifications:
• Minimum of 2-4 years of direct event planning experience or relevant project management experience tied to hospitality or customer experiences/experiential marketing.
• Highly organized, self-starter who is driven to work cross-departmentally to produce next-level, curated, experiences and events.
• A proven problem solver who can anticipate obstacles and source solutions quickly.
• Ability to optimize resources and time efficiently.
• Natural curiosity for customer experience, innovative business trends, and consumer habits.
• Natural creativity with an appetite for integrating originality and imagination into projects.
• Client-first approach with an ability to be resourceful
• Ability to balance and prioritize multiple projects at one time.
• Strong written and verbal communication with comfortability in leading planning and status meetings with department leaders.
• Flexible schedule with ability to work nights and weekends, as the schedule requires.
• Competent in Excel or applicable event planning software solutions.
• Local or ability to relocate to the Chicago area. Some workplace flexibility is available but fully remote candidates will not be considered for this role
Compensation & Benefits:
The base salary range for this role is $60,000 - $70,000 annually + structured bonus. This salary range is an estimate, and the actual salary will vary based on applicant’s education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
