Description

Function: The Warehouse Lead is responsible for the day-to-day coordination of warehouse operations at the Community Food Bank's (CFB's) Willcox location. This position ensures the efficient and accurate receiving, storage, inventory management, and distribution of food and related products. This role requires strong attention to detail, collaboration across teams, and a commitment to food safety standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversees all inbound and outbound freight activity, ensuring timely and efficient loading and unloading of deliveries.
  • Verifies the accuracy of incoming shipments, including quantity, quality, and condition of goods.
  • Collaborates with internal teams to resolve delivery discrepancies, locate missing product, and address inventory issues.
  • Operates warehouse equipment (e.g., forklift, pallet jack), ensures ongoing preventative maintenance compliance, and reports maintenance needs to ensure equipment remains safe and functional.
  • Completes and ensures accuracy of daily inventory transactions in inventory software warehouse management system.
  • Monitors and documents warehouse temperature logs (cooler and freezer), ensuring thermometer accuracy and compliance with food safety protocols.
  • Conducts and documents cycle counts as scheduled to maintain accurate inventory records.
  • Maintains food safety and sanitation standards in accordance with Feeding America and AIB (American Institute of Baking) guidelines.
  • Prepares and submits daily reports on inventory levels, stock adjustments, and inventory reconciliations.
  • Works independently with minimal supervision while effectively managing daily responsibilities.
  • This position does not have supervisory responsibility for direct reports but may provide guidance or oversight to volunteers or temporary workers.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficiency with inventory management systems; experience with inventory software.
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices; must obtain food handler certification with 30 days of hire.
  • Effective problem-solving skills with the ability to assess issues quickly and develop practical solutions.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail in a dynamic work environment.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills, including the ability to maintain accurate inventory records and write professional correspondence.
  • Ability to maintain accurate documentation related to inventory transactions, audits, and reporting requirements.
  • Willingness and ability to work in refrigerated and freezer environments for extended periods.
  • Must obtain certification in forklift and other warehouse equipment operation within 60 days of hire.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Self-motivator and takes initiative.
  • Life-long learner and ability to incorporate new information.
  • Demonstrated interest in learning internally and externally and incorporating new information into role.
  • Ability to work with people from diverse economic, social, and political backgrounds.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two (2) years of experience in warehouse, logistics, or inventory operations, preferably in a food distribution, agricultural, or nonprofit setting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Office 365, and aptitude to learn other software platforms.
  • For company insurance purposes, at least 21 years of age; possess a current Arizona Driver's License with a safe driving record.

Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered if applicable and must be directly related to the functions and body of knowledge required to successfully perform the job.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree or vocational training in Logistics, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • Current and valid Arizona CDL "Class A" Driver License.
  • Three (3) year clean driving record and current DOT Medical Certification.
  • Experience using warehouse management systems (WMS), with preference for candidates familiar with inventory software.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.

Physical Requirements:

  • Heavy Work - which involves lifting no more than 100 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds. If someone can do heavy work, we determine that he or she can also do medium, light, and sedentary work.
