Bloomsbury is seeking an Editorial Assistant to provide editorial and administrative support to our successful Fairchild Books imprint. Reporting to the Publisher for the list, the Editorial Assistant will assist the Fairchild Books editorial division with administrative and editorial tasks in order to publish high quality fashion and interior design textbooks. The Editorial Assistant will support the editorial team to achieve agreed revenue and profitability targets for their list; will manage and deliver the agreed targets for the list; will liaise with key stakeholders, both internal and external; and will support colleagues within the department. This position provides an excellent opportunity to develop a career in academic publishing.

Key Responsibilities
• Perform upkeep of electronic data systems and metadata including Biblio, CollectionPoint, Salesforce, and Focal Point
• Secure reviewers for interior design and fashion proposals and manuscripts
• Process invoices, advance payments, and grants for reviewers, authors, and other vendors
• Ensure timely briefing of eBooks and ancillaries
• Perform QA testing on digital platform for newly loaded content
• Send out metric dashboard surveys in advance of each monthly publishing meeting
• Maintain active internal Fairchild Books library as well as competition libraries
• Submit cataloguing information (CIP) and copyright registration to the Library of Congress
• Process newly acquired and existing contracts
• Actively digitizes incoming contracts, contributor agreements, invoices, and other necessary project documentation
• Provides research assistance and reports on sales information
• Provide research assistance on course markets, content, and competition as directed
• Liaise internally with departments including production, design, marketing, sales, digital resources, customer service, eBook operations, warehouse distribution, accounting, and royalties
• Assist with art and text manuscript preparation and development as directed
• Writes and prepare cover copy for titles as assigned
• Supervise departmental intern
• Occasional copyediting and proofreading as needed, in Word and/or Adobe PDF

Requirements
• Microsoft Office and Excel proficiency
• Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and Adobe Acrobat
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Ability to problem solve
• Ability to learn information and metadata systems quickly
• Must be able to manage time wisely and work autonomously
• Manage competing demands while making sure everything is done well
• Must pay attention to detail
• Cooperative and works well with others

Location

Please note that this position is hybrid, with 2 days working in the office. Candidates must reside in NY, NJ, CT, or PA and be able to commute to Bloomsbury USA’s New York City office.
