Reading Specialist, Remote, Part-Time - Ignite Education Group - USA - work from home job
Company: Ignite Education Group
Job description: Job Summary
The Part-Time Reading Specialist will play a crucial role in supporting students' reading and literacy skills in our virtual learning environment. This position involves working closely with students, teachers, and parents to assess reading abilities, provide targeted interventions, and promote a love for reading. The Reading Specialist will collaborate with the special education team to design and implement effective strategies that address individual learning needs and contribute to the overall academic success of our students.
Responsibilities
• Conduct thorough assessments of students' reading levels and comprehension skills through the use of beginning/middle/end of year assessments.
• Analyze assessment results to identify specific areas of reading difficulty and develop tailored reading goals for students.
• Provide one-on-one or small group online reading instruction and intervention sessions based on students' needs and learning goals. NOTE: All instruction takes place during traditional school hours so this is not an ‘after school' position for a full-time teacher.
• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding students' progress, challenges, and recommended strategies for improvement.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress, interventions, and strategies implemented.
• Stay current with educational research, best practices, and innovative strategies in reading instruction.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Education, Reading, or a related field (Master's preferred).
• Relevant teaching certification or licensure.
• Demonstrated experience in providing reading interventions and support to students.
• Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with students, parents, teachers, and colleagues.
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping students develop their reading skills.
