Fahrenheit Advisors has been retained to lead the search for a Chief of Staff on behalf of our client, Virginia Birth-Related Neurological Injury Compensation Program, located in Richmond, VA.

Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Chief of Staff is a strategic partner and operational leader responsible for ensuring organizational alignment, supporting executive leadership, and optimizing internal operations. This role provides high-level administrative and strategic support to the Executive and Deputy Directors, while overseeing functions including operations, communications, IT, database administration, and board governance. As a key liaison across departments and external stakeholders, the Chief of Staff ensures effective coordination, execution of strategic initiatives, and a high standard of internal and external communication.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and align cross-departmental activities with strategic priorities and timelines.
  • Oversee internal operations, including supervision of the Operations Director, Communications Specialist, IT, and Database Administration.
  • Support executive leadership through calendar management, travel coordination, communication drafting, and project follow-through.
  • Prepare board and committee materials, manage logistics, and record official minutes.
  • Ensure systems and processes are optimized to support efficiency, collaboration, and compliance.
  • Serve as the primary internal and external point of contact for executive leadership.
  • Maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information with discretion.
  • Manage office supplies, equipment, and provide support on special projects as needed.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in operations, project management, executive administration, or a related field.
  • Proven ability to supervise and coordinate across diverse functional areas.
  • Experience supporting senior leadership and managing board governance.
  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, project management tools, and familiarity with database systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Associate degree in business or related field preferred.
