The Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Planning at California State University, Fullerton is seeking a Senior Data Analyst (Associate, Academic and Institutional Studies II -Range A) to join their team. This position plays a crucial role in leading systematic and integrated efforts to assess the effectiveness of university programs, curricula, services, and operations. The Senior Data Analyst will provide meaningful data to support strategic planning and decision-making at all levels of the university, ensuring accountability to accreditation, external entities, and the general public. The role is pivotal in fostering a campus-wide culture of data-informed decision-making, continuous improvement, and teaching and learning innovations. In this role, the Senior Data Analyst will perform a wide range of high-level research projects and data analytics that align with university priorities and the strategic plan. The ideal candidate will possess a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind, characterized by ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness. The Senior Data Analyst will work independently and collaboratively with staff at the Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Planning to conduct analytical studies utilizing innovative and sound methodological design. Responsibilities include research design, data collection and cleaning, database creation, data analysis, analytical interpretation, and disseminating findings to university partners to facilitate decision-making and enhance institutional effectiveness. The Senior Data Analyst will also respond to data inquiries from university constituencies, complete external surveys and ad hoc requests, develop and maintain dashboards, and collaborate with team members to innovate analytics practices at the university. This position requires a detail-oriented individual who can prioritize and organize work to meet deadlines while functioning effectively in a high-pressure, outcome-driven environment with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities
• Conduct high-level research projects and data analytics in alignment with university priorities and strategic plans.

• Perform data visualization and storytelling projects related to institutional effectiveness, student success, and strategic decision-making.

• Lead or contribute to research design, data collection, cleaning, and analysis.

• Develop and maintain dashboards for data reporting and visualization.

• Respond to data inquiries from university constituencies and complete external surveys and ad hoc requests.

• Collaborate with team members to innovate analytics practices at the university.

• Disseminate findings through oral or written means to facilitate decision-making.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.

• Four years of progressively responsible technical or professional analytical experience.
,
• Thorough knowledge of data techniques such as correlation methods, trend analysis, and hypothesis testing.
,
• Ability to reason logically and think creatively on research problems.
,
• Skills in project management, research planning, data collection, analysis, and report preparation.
,
• Experience using qualitative and quantitative research methodologies and statistical software (SAS, SPSS, etc.).
,
• Experience developing and maintaining relational databases or data warehouse systems, preferably in a university environment.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills and sensitivity to diversity issues.

• Ability to manage multiple tasks collaboratively and transparently.

• Advanced degree (MA, MS, MBA, MPA, Ed.D., Ph.D.) in social sciences or a related field with emphasis on statistical analysis and research methodology.
