About the position
The Wildlife Biologist 9-P11 position focuses on invasive species early detection and response within the Michigan Invasive Species Program. This role involves conducting outreach, field surveys, and response activities for invasive species on Wildlife Division-administered lands. The biologist will work independently and collaboratively to develop work plans, communicate with partners, and provide training on invasive species management.
Responsibilities
• Conduct outreach and communication efforts regarding invasive species.

• Perform field surveys for invasive species and other high-priority terrestrial species.

• Develop weekly schedules for surveys and draft work plans.

• Communicate with partners and secure permissions for response activities.

• Ensure quality control of survey data and draft reports on findings.

• Provide training to partners and stakeholders on invasive species response.

• Assist in developing prescribed burn plans.
Requirements
• Possession of a bachelor's degree in natural resource science or biological science with at least 8 semester credits in wildlife biology and 16 semester credits in related fields.

• No specific experience required for Wildlife Biologist 9.

• One year of professional experience for Wildlife Biologist 10 equivalent to a Wildlife Biologist 9.

• Two years of professional experience for Wildlife Biologist P11, including one year equivalent to a Wildlife Biologist 10.
