A pioneer of impact investing in global health, GHIC has been financing innovation in public health for over a decade. GHIC’s investments have supported the development of important new products (including a vaccine for cholera, a device for post-partum hemorrhage, a new treatment for river blindness and rapid diagnostic tests for malaria) as well as the formation of new venture capital funds (such as the Women's and Children's Health Technology Fund). </p> <p>GHIC’s <a href="https://ghicfunds.org/catalytic-health-investment-platform" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener" data-faitracker-click-bind="true">Catalytic Health Investment Platform</a> (CHIP) builds on this foundation with a mission to catalyze health innovation addressing the needs of underserved populations in low- and middle-income countries, in partnership with the Government of Germany through its Public Development Bank KfW. CHIP makes fund investments, direct investments and grants that accelerate the development of technologies and products to improve global health, with initial funding of up to €60M. </p> <p>GHIC is seeking an investment professional passionate about using venture capital for global health impact to join the CHIP team as an Associate or Senior Associate. This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in an innovative investment platform, as part of a collaborative, high-performance team dedicated to advancing healthcare for all.</p> <p><strong>Responsibilities</strong> </p> <ul><li><u>Landscaping &amp; sourcing</u>: Assess the investment landscape to understand trends. Identify, profile and track promising opportunities.</li><li><u>Diligence</u>: Conduct evaluation of fund investment, direct investment and grant opportunities. Coordinate and analyze diligence materials and data, construct market and company valuation models, prepare documentation for decision-making and support presentation to governance bodies.  </li><li><u>Deal execution</u>: Support negotiation and closing of fund investment, direct investment and grant transactions. </li><li><u>Portfolio management &amp; value creation</u>: Monitor performance of investments, serve as a primary point-of-contact and ensure implementation of post-investment management plans. Support efforts to add value to portfolio funds and companies, including driving LMIC impact, fundraising, connectivity with GHIC’s network and synergies across the platform. <u><br></u></li><li><u>Reporting</u>: Manage quarterly and annual reporting of platform progress, including compilation of data and updates, performance assessments and report drafting. </li><li><u>Ecosystem engagement</u>: Support relationships with key stakeholders (such as KfW), organize platform-related events, support external communications including website and social media updates, and manage CRM tools. </li><li><u>Platform development</u>: Identify and contribute to opportunities to enhance and grow the platform. Collaborate with the broader GHIC team to provide organizational support as needed.</li></ul> <p><strong>Profile</strong></p> <ul><li><strong></strong>Bachelor’s degree in a life science, healthcare or finance related field, advanced degree (e.g. MBA, MD, PhD) preferred.</li><li>3-5 years of work experience in an investment role, with a strong preference for the healthcare or life science fields. <em>(Candidates with additional experience are also encouraged to apply.)</em> </li><li>Substantive experience working in low-and-middle-income country settings.  </li><li>Demonstrable passion for and knowledge of global health</li><li>Fluency with corporate finance concepts and financial modeling.</li><li>Demonstrated ability to work independently and proactively with minimal supervision, as well as with cross-functional teams and a wide range of stakeholders and cultures.  </li><li>Excellent analytical, communication and presentation skills. </li></ul> <p></p>
