About the position

The Finance Manager of Shared Services Finance at UCSF Health plays a pivotal role in managing key financial processes that are essential for the organization’s operational and strategic objectives. Reporting directly to the UCSF Health System CFO, this position is responsible for overseeing the operating and capital budget processes, long-term financial planning, benchmarking, financial reporting, and conducting various ad hoc analyses. The Finance Manager will work closely with project stakeholders, leadership, and the Shared Services Finance team to ensure timely and effective delivery of financial objectives. This role also involves managing a team of two Senior Decision Support specialists who focus on Benchmarking, Capital, and the Long Range Financial Plan. The Shared Services Finance team is integral to the financial health of UCSF Health, acting as the functional owner of several financial solutions such as EPSi, Cognos, Tableau, Hyperion, and Vizient. These tools are critical for measuring enterprise performance and informing operational decisions. The Finance Manager will be expected to leverage these tools to provide insights that drive sustainable growth and align financial initiatives with the organization’s overall business strategies. In addition to technical financial skills, the Finance Manager must possess strong leadership capabilities to effectively manage the team, delegate tasks, and ensure high-quality deliverables. The role requires a strategic mindset to identify financial challenges and develop innovative solutions, as well as the ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to various stakeholders, including operational and clinical teams. The Finance Manager will also collaborate with other departments, such as operations and IT, to integrate financial insights into broader business strategies and initiatives, fostering a culture of teamwork and collaborative problem-solving.

Responsibilities

Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in a related area or four years of relevant experience.

• Six or more years of proven experience in investment banking, consulting, finance, and/or healthcare.

• Excellent financial analysis abilities, including experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling.

• Strategic thinking regarding financial goals and alignment with business strategies.

• Strong leadership and management skills to drive key processes and team performance.

• Critical-thinking skills with proficiency in identifying financial challenges and developing solutions.

• Experience collaborating with other departments to integrate financial insights.

• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools such as Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.

Nice-to-haves
• Functional understanding of relational databases (i.e. SQL) and large data analysis.
