Job Overview
We are looking for elite typists to join our media production team as Remote Captioners. In this role, you will be responsible for creating high-quality subtitles and closed captions for a wide variety of video content, including films, educational courses, and live broadcasts.
Because we handle high volumes of content, this role is strictly for fast typists. If you can maintain high accuracy while typing at lightning speeds, we want to talk to you. This position offers the flexibility to work on your own terms while contributing to making digital content more accessible worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
- Subtitle Creation: Type out spoken dialogue and describe relevant sound effects for video content.
- Time-Syncing: Align captions perfectly with the audio to ensure a seamless viewing experience.
- Grammar & Context: Ensure all captions are grammatically correct and reflect the "tone" of the speaker (e.g., capturing sarcasm or emphasis).
- Quality Assurance: Review and edit auto-generated captions to fix errors in spelling, punctuation, and timing.
- Strict Deadlines: Deliver finished subtitle files (SRT, VTT, etc.) within fast-paced production windows.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Fast Typing Only: You must have a minimum typing speed of 70+ WPM with at least 98% accuracy. (A typing test will be required).
- Ear for Detail: Ability to understand diverse accents and transcribe audio clearly even with background music or noise.
- Technical Savvy: Comfort using captioning software (e.g., Rev, Aegisub, or Adobe Premiere) is a plus, but we can provide training for the right candidate.
- Language Proficiency: Mastery of English spelling, punctuation, and popular idioms.
- Equipment: A high-speed internet connection and a comfortable keyboard (mechanical keyboards preferred for speed/comfort).
